Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle to sign Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck, according to Sky Sports.

The England international is reportedly at the Gunners’ training ground in London Colney as Arsene Wenger edges closer to ending his desperate search for a striker to partner Olivier Giroud and cover for the Frenchman while he is sidelined with an ankle injury.

Welbeck has seen his Old Trafford chances reduced severely with the recent signing of Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria and impending arrival of Monaco’s Radamel Falcao.

Wenger has been under pressure to sign a striker this summer after failing to bring a big name forward over the last two transfer windows.

And having seemingly missed out on Falcao due to wage demands, it appears the Emirates Stadium boss has turned to the 23-year-old Welbeck to help fire his side to a first Premier League title in 10 years.
