Chelsea and Arsenal are on red alert for Inter Milan’s wantaway defender Andrea Ranocchia, according to reports from The Express.

The Italian international centre-back is believed to be on the verge of submitting an official transfer request to force his way out of the San Siro after growing frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities.

Rumours suggest that Ranocchia was pushed to breaking point when his was benched by Walter Mazzarri against Sampdoria, and now he is desperate to leave in order to get his career back on track.

This has alerted Arsenal, United and Chelsea, with the trio all keen to offer him an escape route.

The 25-year-old is likely to jump at the chance of regular action, with a spot in the Azzurri’s squad for the World Cup still a possibility.

Chelsea have been linked with the 6ft.5” defender for some time, and may opt to move with reports circulating that David Luiz could be sold.

United are also in the hunt, with David Moyes believed to be looking at eventual successors for Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, while Arsene Wenger may also be open to bolstering his rearguard in a bid to keep the Gunners’ title push on track.
