Konstantinos Mitroglou (Olympiakos)Arsenal and Liverpool will have to fight off interest from Genoa if they are to secure a deal for in-form Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou in January, according to reports from talkSPORT.

The Greek international has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest forwards over the course of the past few months following a series of excellent displays for both club and country.

The 25-year-old has already netted 10 goals in 14 league outings this term, and is on the radars of top clubs across the continent.

Arsenal and Liverpool were believed to be leading the race, but now the Premier League pair will have to see off Genoa to push through a deal.

The Serie A side are believed to have entered the battle for Mitroglou and are keen to lure him to Italy with a winter offer.

Olympiakos are thought to have slapped a £6.7m valuation of their goal-getter, which has served to boost interest in his services.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is believed to see him as an ideal alternative to the in-form Olivier Giroud, while Reds chief Brendan Rodgers is keen to draft in some back-up for his star striker pairing of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

Should Arsenal or Liverpool make a serous move for Kostas Mitroglou?
