Arsenal and Manchester City have both been contacted by agents over the possibility of a transfer for Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Spain captain continues to struggle for first team football at the Bernabeu, and is reportedly concerned about the prospect of losing his World Cup place.

Therefore agents have been busy sounding out clubs over the possibility of a January transfer, and the title chasing duo have both been contacted.

Manchester City are thought to be in the market for a new goalkeeper, after Joe Hart’s loss of form. He has since been replaced by Costel Pantilimon, but City are not sure he remains the permanent answer.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s Woijech Szczesny has just signed a new contract and is enjoying the best season of his career.

Wenger had reportedly been in the market for a new goalkeeper in the summer, after Szczesny suffered a dip in form at the back end of last season which saw him lose his first team place to Lukasz Fabianski, who is set to join Schalke in January.

Arsenal also have on loan Emiliano Viviano at the club, so any deal for Casillas seems unlikely, but they have been sounded out none-the-less.
