Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been given a boost in their pursuit of Mario Balotelli, as AC Milan “have given up” on the Italian striker, Express reports.

The Milanese side seem to have run out of patience with Balotelli’s off-field shenanigans and are looking to sell him after this summer’s World Cup.

The former Manchester City star hit out at journalists after Milan’s 2-0 away loss to Roma and reports in Italy suggests that the incident was the Milan hierarchy’s final straw.

Giancaro Marocchi, a pundit for Sky Sports Italia, criticized the striker’s off-the-ball movements during the game, proving he is not yet a “top player”.

Balotelli response was, “”You don’t understand anything about football. Trust me, you really don’t.

“It isn’t nice? I don’t care. I don’t care.

“I never said I’m a top player. I am a perfectly normal player, it will take time to become world class, but the reasons why I am not a top player are not the same reasons you think.

“You always talk about me. When Milan win Mario’s great, when Milan lose it’s all Mario’s fault. You expect me to score five goals a game. I don’t need your criticism, I make my own criticism.”

He then took to twitter to comment on the way he seems to have divided opinions in Italy.

Balotelli tweeted: “Mamma mia, I divide Italy in two! Amazing! While almost everyone overseas is united with me! What a strange game.”

This also suggests that the 23-year-old feels more appreciated in England , but whether Arsenal or Tottenham will want to take a chance on ‘Mad Mario’ remains to be seen.
