Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to make a move for striker Loic Remy in the summer, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

Newcastle are the favourites to sign the forward, who has excelled on loan at St James’ Park this season, but parent club QPR are also keen on keeping the Frenchman should they earn promotion to the Premier League this season.

Arsenal will have the finances available to outbid the Toon however and so boss Alan Pardew will need to convince the striker that the North East is where he should stay.

Arsene Wenger is aware of the reliance on Olivier Giroud as the Gunners’ main striker with back up Yaya Sanogo failing to impress and Danish Nicklas Bendtner set to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Newcastle do not have a clause in the loan contract of Remy to take him permanently and so Wenger is set to pounce.
