Manchester City are close to securing the services of Arsenal‘s Bacary Sagna, according to reports in The Sun.

The 31-year-old French international’s Emirates contract expires next month and it has been widely reported that he has been unable to  agree a contract extension with the Gunners.

And City look like they may have tempted Sagna to remain in the Premier League with a £7million-a-year contract offer.

It remains to be seen whether City boss Manuel Pellegrini intends to make Sagna a first choice full-back ahead of the impressive Pablo Zabaleta, although the estimated £135,ooo-a-week they’re prepared to pay him suggests he’ll feature regularly for the newly crowned Champions.

United were also reported to be interested in bringing the French defender to the Manchester, but appear to have been blown out of the water by their arch-rivals, while Arsenal had offered Sagna an improved deal on his current one, but ultimately struggled to compete with City’s financial might.

Sagna will be the fourth Arsenal player to sign for Man City since they were bought by the Abu Dhabi Group in 2008, following Emmanuel Adebayor, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy out of the Emirates and to the Etihad.
