Bacary Sagna has moved a step closer to joining Manchester City on a free transfer in the summer, after reportedly turning down a move to Inter Milan worth £9million-a-year, according to the Daily Star.

The move would see Sagna reunited with former Arsenal teammates and international colleagues Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri.

Sagna has become increasingly frustrated with the Gunners’ failure to offer a contract worth more than his current £60k a week, for a period of more than two years.

The 31-year-old feels he should be rewarded with a pay rise after years of loyal service, which saw him reject the opportunity to join other clubs.

Italian giants Inter Milan have reportedly offered Sagna a deal worth £90k a week with an option of a third year, but the right back is said to be leaning towards a deal that would see him stay in the Premier League.

Inter also look set to miss out on the Champions League this season, with the club currently occupying fifth place in Serie A, 11 points behind third-placed Napoli.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Monaco, Fenerbahce and Galatasary are also understood to be monitoring the situation.
