Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has urged his side to get back to winning ways in their midweek clash with Manchester United.

The Gunners were hammered 5-1 by Liverpool on Saturday, a result that saw them slip behind Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.

In what will be a challenging set of fixtures for the North London side, they are set to face United at the Emirates Stadium ahead of an FA Cup game against their previous opponents and a difficult Champions League tie with Bayern Munich.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was one of the few Arsenal players to have escaped Merseyside having had a relatively impressive game, and has called upon his team-mates to bounce back as they host the champions:

“These things happen in football and it is our responsibility to turn that around and we have great opportunity on Wednesday night,” he is quoted by Sky Sports.

“When the first goal goes in early you have to respond and see out the next 10 or 15 minutes. We failed to do that and, credit to Liverpool, I thought they were brilliant and we were not up to scratch.

“In the second half we knew we had to improve and I believe that we did that. So there are some mental positives but we have to put it right on Wednesday.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain played a big role in Arsenal’s goal at Anfield, with the wide-man having been felled in the area by Steven Gerrard to set up Mikel Arteta’s spot kick.
