Arsenal are inching towards a summer deal for Loic Remy after agreeing personal terms with the striker, according to reports from The Metro.

The France international spent last season on loan at Newcastle from QPR, but is expected to be wearing the shirt of a new club for 2014/15.

The Super Hoops are set to sell for around £8m, and although the Tyneside club are keen to keep the 27-year-old, the player himself wants to play European football.

Liverpool and Tottenham are also in the battle, but Arsenal are said to be leading the way.

It is understood that the Gunners have been conversing with the former Marseille ace, and that personal terms have been agreed.

Remy netted 14 goals in 29 appearances for Newcastle last term, and is viewed as a good option to compete with Olivier Giroud for the main striking berth in the Londoners’ XI.

The versatile forward has also been compared to Arsenal icon Thierry Henry, due to his good technical ability and tendency to drift in from wide areas.

It is thought that a deal could be formalised before the World Cup starts.

Fransenal….french capital for french players. Wenger is so biased. Cant he buy other talented strikers? If we get Remy, and madrid agree to sell Benzema, we will have a formidable fransenal front row…full of french players. There is so much talent, and we settle for the french…what happend to Clichy, Sagna? This is whats gonna happen to Remy…

Remy is just what we need, a striker who can score goals. He still has a lot of room for improvement, we know that, but Arsene Wenger is the best at turning mediocre players into stars, take Thierry Henry for an example, he was a flop at Juventus but Arsene saw talent and turned him into one of the premier league’s best strikers EVER

Remy will hit the ground running at the Arsenal! Benzema will find it difficult to adapt to premier league an is more suited at la liga, while Remy is already a proven front man at Newcastle an the quality he’ll be surrounded by at the Emirates will improve his strike rate immensely! Even the Real fans are still not fully convinced with Benzema, why do you think there willing to part with him!
