Gunners‘s owner Stan Kroenke is expected to meet Arsene Wenger to guarantee he will be the man to decide on the ambitious expenditure the Premier League club is planning for the summer.

The club have confirmed the manager will meet the American businessman, who arrived in London prior to Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, the Daily Mail informs.

Despite the fan discontent for Arsenal’s current performance, Wenger remains under no threat from the board and is expected to complete his contract, which expires in June 2014.

Therefore, the Frenchman would be making decisions in next summer’s spending, which is expected to be a pushful one in hopes of bringing the Gunners back to the winning path after seven (this could be the eigth one) seasons without trophies.

Reports state that players like Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina, Borussia attacker Mario Gotze, Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic or Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue are in Arsenal’s shortlist for next season.

However, the budget could vary should the team fail to finish among the top-four of the Premier League. Also, it is reasonable to think that top players will not sign if the team does not qualify for the next Champions League.

On this matter, Wenger is expected to talk to Arsenal’s scouting team in order to identify different alternatives to cover the squad’s needs depending on the funds.
