Barcelona wonderkid Tonny Sanabria has opened the door for a January transfer move to Arsenal after rejecting another contract offer at Barcelona, according to talkSPORT.

The 17-year-old Paraguay striker is approaching the final 18 months of his Nou Camp contract but has turned down two renewal offers from the La Liga giants and has reportedly asked for a move away in January, despite boss Tata Martino personally pleading with the player and his father to remain at the club.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is believed to have been keeping an eye on his contract developments and could now be ready to meet Sanabria’s ¬£2.5million release clause, which could rise to ¬£4.2million with add-ons.

However, Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo¬†claim that the highly-rated striker has already reached a verbal agreement with an unnamed club, which could hinder Wenger’s chances of bringing him to the Premier League.

However, El Mundo believes that both Arsenal and Serie A side Roma are the favourites for his signature and have both promised him first-team football as a sweetener to convince him to sign.

Sanabria only made his Barcelona ‘B’ bow this season and has netted twice in eight league games so far, while he has already made three appearances for Paraguay’s senior team.
