Arsenal have been given the green light to move for Daryl Janmaat, after the Dutch defender’s contract negotiations with Feyenoord broke down, according to reports from The Metro.

The 24-year-old right-back has been a player long linked with the Gunners, with Arsene Wenger believed to be a big fan of the man he sees as a possible replacement for Bacary Sagna – who could leave London on a free transfer in a few months’ time.

Janmaat is set to represent Holland at the World Cup later this year and is seen as a key player at Feyenoord, but the Rotterdam club look set to lose him when the transfer window opens.

Negotiations surrounding a new deal have been on-going, but now it has emerged that an agreement has not been reached.

It’s extremely likely that Janmaat will be sold this summer, wit the Eredivisie side far from keen to hold onto him for another year only to let him go for free.

The solid defender has previously been valued at close to £7m, yet it is now thought that he could go for as little as half of that figure.
