Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen to get rid of bad-boy forward Olivier Giroud at the end of the season, according to reports from The Sun.

The French international has been the Gunners’ most dangerous striker this term and leads their scoring charts with 19 goals, but his off-field antics have led to criticism.

In February Giroud took to Twitter to apologise for cheating on his wife after pictures of him in a hotel room with model Celia Kay, which were reportedly taken on the eve of a matchday, emerged.

Since then the 27-year-old has dipped in and out of the first-team, and was even dropped for Saturday’s crunch FA Cup semi-final against Wigan in favour of rookie front-man Yaya Sanogo.

Wenger is said to be furious with Giroud’s lack of professionalism, and is prepared to accept offers of around £17m for the player he signed just two years ago.

Interest from France is said to be high, with Giroud possessing a good reputation in Ligue 1 after firing Montpellier to the title before joining Arsenal.

Selling his current first choice striker would also clear the way for Wenger to move for a top class goalscorer – which was a priority last summer.
