Arsene Wenger is ready to put pen to paper on a new Arsenal contract in the coming weeks, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Gunners chief will lead his team out in this evening’s FA Cup Final against Hull knowing that his deal expires shortly.

There has been some talk that the veteran Frenchman may look to call time on his glittering spell in north London if he’s unable to end his team’s nine-year trophy drought against the Tigers, but now it appears that regardless of the outcome he will extend his contract.

A three-season deal is on the table, which will take Wenger to the age of 67, at which point he may consider retirement.

Speaking in the build-up to the showpiece game at Wembley, the Arsenal chief said:

“The result of the FA Cup Final will have no influence on my future at Arsenal,

“When I’ve been part of a club for 18 years, it would be a bit ridiculous to base my decision on one single match, don’t you think?

“Will I be the manager next season? Yes, normally. It’s not completely finalised yet, but it should happen.”
