Arsenal have triggered a £3m buy-back clause to re-sign Carlos Vela from Real Sociedad this summer, according to reports from The Metro.

The Gunners sold their former flop forward to the Spanish side in 2012 on the back of a loan stint at the Anoeta, where he has since thrived.

But upon his move, Arsene Wenger saw a £3m clause inserted in the deal to bring the Mexican ace back at any time.

And after watching him fire Sociedad into the Champions League while helping establish them as a top La Liga club, the Frenchman is ready to give Vela another chance.

Arsenal are rumoured to be looking to test the 25-year-old during pre-season to see if he is up to the required level to boost their prospective Premier League title challenge next term.

Should he not be, they will then attempt to sell him back to a club in Spain for a profit, with the likes of Atletico Madrid and Valencia both keen.

Vela has already admitted that he would consider a return to north London, despite having endured a difficult spell in which he was frequently loaned out before being sold.

Arsene Wenger shoud rather go for Antoine Griezmann. Carlos Vela had his chance at Arsenal and he blew it.

He was not a `flop`. A `flop` is someone who was given a fair chance and failed, Carlos was not given that chance. As for Wenger being prepared to give him a `second chance` it is very much the other way around, Carlos is giving Wenger a second chance. Stay where you are Carlos.

For that price it would be stupid not to, he’s worth 15 to 20 million, even if we don’t play him we can sell him the next season for 10 million. The only thing that stands in the way is that Arsene Wenger is one of the few manager’s left who has a conscious and tries to do whats best for the player. Even though his money ball tactics may seem he is all about the books. No manager has looked out for his players like Wenger. So I can see if Vela really wants to stay, Wenger will let him.
