Arsenal players and supporters are on red alert ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash with Napoli, amid growing safety concerns, according to the Daily Mirror.

Arsene Wenger’s squad has been put under security lockdown, with the players and staff unable to leave their hotel without being accompanied, due to Napoli’s notorious fans.

Wenger and his players usually take a pre-match walk ahead of a Champions League tie, but security will be increased as Napoli fans are expected to be gathered around the hotel in big numbers.

700 Gunners fans are expected to have made the trip for the crunch Champions League tie tonight, and they have all been put on red alert to potential trouble.

UEFA had previously threatened the Serie A side with the prospect of playing the tie behind closed doors, after trouble erupted during their last home game with Marseille, after a huge haul of weapons including knives were seized from their ‘ultra’ fans.

Arsenal have liaised with local authorities to arrange special transport to the stadium, that avoid the notorious flashpoint areas.

Gunners supporters have also been issued with fact sheets, detailing how best to stay out of trouble, while the number of stewards and local police officers have been increased.

Napoli fans even attacked a pie shop and caused huge security problems when they visited the Emirates in October.

i think that if there is more trouble tonight they should ban napoli from the cup, and the Europa cup if they finish 3rd.
