Arsenal have made an offer for Rubin Kazan striker Sardar Azmoun, a player dubbed the ‘Iranian Lionel Messi’, according to the Metro.

The 19-year-old has only made a handful of first team appearances for Rubin, but is still considered to be one of the most exciting young talents in Russia.

Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus have been linked with a move, but Arsenal have been tracking his progress for some time and have made the first move to bring him to north London.

Reports suggest the Gunners have made an opening offer of £2million for the forward, who was scouted while playing for Iran’s Under-20 side last year.

Azmoun has already told the Russian press he was approached by Arsenal scouts, and claimed a move to the Emirates would be ‘a dream.’

And now it seems Wenger has given the move the green light, with Arsenal officials said to be locked in negotiations with Rubin to bring the talented youngster to the Premier League.

Azmoun has spent just over a year in Europe, having moved to Rubin in 2013 from Iranian Pro League outfit Sepahan Isfahan.
