Arsenal are plotting a surprise move for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, according to reports from The Express.

The Czech Republic stopper has been an ever-present in the Blues’ first-team for the majority of the last 10 years, and is widely thought of as one of the very best players in his position to have played in the Premier League.

But the 32-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge is now the subject of some doubt, with Jose Mourinho set to re-call Thibaut Courtois from his three-season loan stint at Atletico Madrid.

The Belgian ‘keeper is widely seen as Chelsea’s glovesman for the future, and has already indicated that he will not return to west London to be a back-up man.

As a result Cech is looking more likely than ever to leave the club in search of guaranteed action.

Arsenal are keen to offer him just that, with Arsene Wenger possessing only Wojciech Szczesny as a top level option between the sticks.

The Frenchman is understood to have had the experienced shot-stopper watched on several occasions, but he may face competition from PSG and Monaco.

However it remains to be seen whether or not Chelsea will be willing to discuss a deal with a direct and local rival for one of their stars.
