The Metro.

The Gunners are believed to be on the verge of tying up a deal for the Argentine striker, and once the transfer is agreed they will push ahead for the Toffees’ star man.

Arsene Wenger is thought to be willing to splash the cash this summer, after being handed a £70m war chest by the club’s hierarchy to keep the London club in the running for Champions League qualification.

Higuain will cost £22m, but any move for Fellaini would be more costly, with Everton only willing to sell if his release clause of £23m is met.

Wenger is thought to be prepared to meet the figure, after being impressed by the Belgian’s form last season.

New Goodison Park chief Roberto Martinez is desperate to keep the 25-year-old, but is aware that there is little he can do to convince the midfielder – who is said to be keen to play top level European football – to stay

If Wenger can land the duo, he is thought to be pondering using them as an attacking duo, with the powerful Fellaini just behind the sharp-shooting Higuain.

Arsenal fans, do the possible signings of Marouane Fellaini and Gonzalo HIguain excite you?

If Wenger spends the cash and with the youngsters the team has then the fans should again get to see silverware at the end of the season.

Higuain will score bags of goals at the Arsenal, just the type of stiker needed since henry and RVP departed, cant wait for fellani to arrive to cement the midfield along with Yaya Sanogo and a decent centre back, I think it’s all positive for the upcoming season!

Nice gossip, and so it will remain until Arsenal makes the signings officially announced. With two more high profile players signed(most likely), Arsenal can compete for trophies next season. Nice to see those soccer super-stars play for the Emirates club.
