Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna is now likely to leave the Emirates in the summer, according to the Mirror.

The Frenchman had been in contract talks with the Gunners, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season. But those talks have a hit a stalemate, with Sagna, who turns 31 next month, wanting a 3-year-deal.

Wenger, who signed the full-back from Auxerre for £8.5million in 2007, has only put a 2-year contract on the table. It’s a surprise the Frenchman offered that, with players over 30-years-old normally only given a 1 year extension.

Sagna, who has appeared in 19 Premier League matches for the Gunners this campaign, is reluctant to sign anything below his demands, and has been linked with moves to PSG and Monaco in recent months, with the two Ligue 1 giants reportedly monitoring the contract talks.

Arsenal are unlikely to sell the defender this month in a bid to re-coup some money from the defender, meaning he will leave the club for a free transfer if the two parties cannot agree on a new deal.

The defender has played a big part in both Arsenal’s Premier League and Champions League campaigns, but could depart the club without lifting a piece of silverware during his time under Wenger.
