Arsenal star happy to keep his doubters quiet
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud claims he is now beginning to prove his doubters wrong after his brace against Fulham at the weekend.
The French striker took seven games to register his first Premier League goal for the Gunners but now has six goals since his £12 million move from Montpellier in the summer.
And the 26-year-old striker now believes he can continue his goal scoring form and has set himself a target of 15 goals this season.
He told The Mirror: “I am starting to quieten the doubters a bit. I am feeling better and better in this team and I think you can see it.
“I am trying to build an understanding with my new team-mates and we getting to know each other more and more.
“I would be happy to get between 12 and 15 goals in the league this season. I am confident of my qualities.”
Giroud went on to admit that he wasn’t anxious at not being able to open his Arsenal account sooner and that the Gunners must stick together through the difficult run in form that sees them occupy 8th spot, four points off the top four.
“I never give up. When I didn’t score at the beginning of the season I stayed confident and I always work on my mind and my game,” he continued.
“We will have to sort out these little problems which are causing us to lose points at the moment and lose ground on the big four.
“But we never give up. We have to continue, to fight and to keep our confidence. We need to work harder and to continue.”
