Arsenal star set for derby day return

German centre back Per Mertesacker is set to return to Arsenal’s starting XI against West Ham in this weekend’s all London clash, according to the Daily Mail.
The 28-year-old defender has provided a steadying influence on the Gunners back four this season and his recovery from injury will be a huge lift for the team.
Mertesacker missed the Champions League visit of Olympiacos to the Emirates on the Wednesday due to suffering from flu. He is one of several plays to be hit by the virus at the club in recent weeks.
Despite struggling during his first season, the former Werder Bremen player has reinvigorated his Arsenal career, and the club have already kept 3 premier league clean sheets this season.
Arsenal are due to travel to Upton Park, to take on West Ham, in the 5.30 kick off this Saturday.
