Arsene Wenger will turn to Borussia Dortmund’s Lukasz Piszczek if Bacary Sagna leaves Arsenal this summer, according to reports from The Metro.

The Gunners are believed to be discussing a new deal with their French right-back, yet it is unclear as to whether or not an agreement will be reached.

Sagna is thought to be looking for a lucrative contract amid interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco, but it appears unlikely that the Londoners will be keen to offer the 31-year-old a high salary despite him being set to be a free agent in a few months’ time.

Wenger is understood to be hopeful that a compromise will be reached, however he is keeping an eye on Piszczek in the event he is left disappointed.

The Poland international has been a key member of Dortmund’s first-team set-up for some time, and has long been on Arsenal’s radar.

At 28, he is seen as a player with adequate experience to slot straight into the club’s starting XI and is believed to be seen as a financially viable option with his value estimated to be around the £7m mark.

Piszczek may well be open to a deal, with the full-back rumoured to have grown frustrated with Dortmund’s consistent selling of top players over the course of the past few years.
