Arsenal have been given a boost in their pursuit of Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, after the striker confessed that he could leave the club if he fails to earn more playing time.

The Spanish starlet is one of a number of forwards to have been linked with the Londoners in recent weeks, with Arsene Wenger thought to be ready to bolster his frontline amid injury concerns.

A loan swoop for Morata has been mooted, with the 21-year-old currently a benchwarmer at the Bernabeu due to Los Blancos possessing a number of experienced and established attackers.

Although a temporary switch for the hit-man has been ruled out by his boss Carlo Ancelotti, the Spain U-21 star says that he could move on if he is unable to force his way into Real’s starting XI:

“Real Madrid have been my team since I was little and will be all my life, but I think the important thing is to have a relevant role in the team,” he is quoted by the Daily Star.

“If I ever feel that’s not the case, I would look at other options. In football, it’s very difficult to stay at the top and even more so in a team like Real.

“Moving up to the first team is tricky, not everyone deals with it well. If you learn how to handle it, you realise the value of every minute.

“Maybe in 5 or 10 minutes you have to go on and be decisive in a game. In football every minute is golden.”

Liverpool have also been linked with Morata, while a transfer to Tottenham has also been mentioned in the past.
