Nicolas N'Koulou (Marseille)Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to up his interest in Marseille centre-back Nicolas N’Koulou ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports from The Metro.

The Gunners boss has been tracking the Frenchman for some time, and was linked with a move for his signature over the summer.

However, he instead elected to bolster his attacking options with a swoop for Mesut Ozil, shelving his other plans.

But, Wenger is keen to re-enter the race for N’Koulou this winter as he looks to build his squad in a bid to stay in the race for the Premier League title.

Arsenal scouts were rumoured to have been in attendance for Marseille’s recent Champions League tie with Napoli to keep a close eye on the 23-year-old ahead of a potential New Year bid.

N’Koulou is able to play all across the backline or in a midfield position which is particularly attractive to the London club who are keen to address numerous problems with their squad in the coming transfer window.

Wenger is set to be backed financially by the Arsenal board in January, with rumours suggesting he may have around £60m to spend.

West Ham’s Winston Reid and Remy Cabella of Montpellier are also said to be on his radar.

Should Arsenal move for Nicolas N’Koulou?
