Arsenal are ready to turn their attention to Newcastle’s Mathieu Debuchy after growing frustrated in their efforts to land Ivorian right-back Serge Aurier, according to reports from The Metro.

With Bacary Sagna’s Bosman switch to Manchester City having been announced, the Gunners are known to be desperate to snap up a replacement, and have made Toulouse’s African star their main target.

Reports have suggested that personal terms have been agreed with the player, but a fee is yet to be settled with the Ligue 1 club who are thought to be digging their heels in to get as much cash as possible for the defender.

Although Arsenal want Aurier, Arsene Wenger is determined not to overpay and is already looking at Debuchy.

The French full-back is currently away at the World Cup after an impressive season with Newcastle allowed him to keep his spot in the Les Blues set-up.

Arsenal targeted the 28-year-old prior to his switch to St James’ Park after being impressed with his displays for Lille, but eventually opted against bringing him across the Channel.

Debuchy hinted earlier this week that he is ready to leave the Magpies in search of Champions League football.

What do you think?

Arsenal should sign Aurier
