Robin van Persie’s agent has met with Arsene Wenger to discuss a shock deal for his client to re-join Arsenal from Manchester United, according to reports from The Metro.

The Dutch ace only left the Gunners in 2012 to force a switch to Old Trafford after growing frustrated at a lack of silverware during his time in London.

But after winning the Premier League last year, RVP is rumoured to have grown unsettled at United.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure is said to have frustrated the prolific marksman, with the iconic Scot a major factor in his decision to move to the Red Devils.

David Moyes’ woes have also contributed, with the club’s new manager and van Persie speculated to have a less than fruitful relationship.

This has led to talk of a summer move away from United, with a return to Arsenal seen as a possibility.

The 30-year-old enjoyed a fine spell with the club, where he was made captain in his final years.

It is believed that he could be open to a return, with his agent having sounded out Wenger ahead of a potential deal.

Arsenal are said to be tracking a new striker, and RVP could be seen as the ideal man to ease the burden placed on Olivier Giroud.

Why go and get a 30 yr old glory sniffer when we can get a young talented striker makes no sense? 1 good season and he’s gone again!

no no no no no?why why why?we are moving on,we were not good enough for him two years ago so why come back now,he had a season without injury and this one missed half with injureys we are seeing rvp in run down and we dont want him,£22 mill for a 31 year old we are suppose to not offer over 30 years more than one year contract so what makes him different, let him stink at utd,utd he choose before us lets not forget we were going to break wage structure for him but he wanted to leave for money!let him rot!
