Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has warned Arsenal off a January move for Alvaro Morata, but has hinted the forward may be available in the summer, reports the Metro.

The Gunners have found themselves linked with a move for the talented 21-year-old in recent weeks, as the Spaniard has struggled to get first team action at the Bernabeu.

The likes of Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale have been occupying the attacking positions of late, and Ancelotti had earlier hinted Morata may well get a loan move in January in order to aid his development.

North London rivals Tottenham have also been linked with a man they tried to sign in the summer as a part of the package that saw Gareth Bale complete his world record move to Spain.

But Ancelotti has had his say on the matter, and whilst he remains adamant Morata will be going nowhere in January, he hinted the forward may be allowed to leave in the summer.

“Morata stays because we need him. It’s true that he has not played many games but we have every confidence in him,” Ancelotti said.

“It could be at the end of the season that he is not happy and we can think about letting him go but we need him now.”

Arsenal are thought to be in the market for a new forward in January to provide cover for Olivier Giroud.

The Gunners have also been linked with Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato, but with Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski returning to fitness and Nicklas Bendtner scoring his first goal of the season in midweek, Wenger may now decide to stick with what he has until the summer.
