Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has distanced himself from a January move for Thierry Henry.

The New York Red Bulls striker, and former Gunners captain, has been heavily linked with a temporary switch to the Premier League club during the MLS off-season.

He enjoyed a similar move last year, playing a handful of games for Arsenal during January.

Due to this, it has been suggested that Wenger would once again turn to Henry, but the Frenchman believes a move would not be beneficial:

“I do not think it would be good for him (Thierry Henry) to play with us again,” he is quoted by The Metro.

He went on to suggest that the 35-year-old should take a break to prolong his career in America:

“He should relax and prepare for the next MLS season.”

Wenger previously appeared to be keen to bring the front man to the club for the third time, but with news that Marouane Chamakh will not be leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations, he is thought to be happy with his attacking options.

Arsenal may instead switch their attention towards bringing in a forward on a permanent basis.

With Theo Walcott stalling over a new deal and Olivier Giroud failing to adapt sufficiently to English football, the Londoners have been linked with a number of strikers.

Newcastle star Demba Ba is reportedly a target due, in part, to his £7.5m release clause.
