Arsene Wenger refutes talk of deal
Most media outlets were reporting Monday morning that Arsenal had offered the Gunners boss a new two-year contract extension, causing furore amongst the fans who are still reeling from the cup exit at the weekend.
Wenger furiously denies that there in is any truth in the speculation and got rather irritated when asked about it in his press conference on Monday ahead of the Champions League game against Bayern Munich.
“That is the wrong information, if it’s good information that comes from nowhere, it’s alright. But this is the wrong information that comes from nowhere. It’s completely wrong.”
He also got irritated when a reporter questioned him about the Gunners defeat on Saturday:
“Here this is a pre-match conference for the Champions League. If you want to talk about Saturday, that press conference has been made after the game,” he said.
“Can we get some questions about tomorrow’s game? That would be very nice.”
The North London club are trophy-less since 2005 and the pressure is mounting on the team and the boss. Wenger has just over a year left on his current contract and has not signed a new deal and will not be discussing it with Arsenal until the summer. When asked about his contract back in the summer he said
“I’m not in the mood to think about it.
“I will assess my own performances and then make a decision. If I don’t do well, I have to consider my future.”
