Caption Competition: Hughton and Wenger square up
Last month’s Premier League transfer window will be remembered by Arsene Wenger and Chris Hughton for some time, but for very different reasons.
While Hughton managed the capture of Leeds striker Luciano Becchio he saw his pursuit for Celtic hitman Gary Hooper hit a snag as the The Buoys refused four attempts to sign their prized asset.
On the other hand, Wenger had a traditionally quiet window, until a rush of blood to the head (or the realisation that he’d have to play Andre Santos in the place of injured Kieran Gibbs) saw the Arsenal manager splash out £8.5million on Malaga full back Nacho Monreal.
Here the two share a tender moment, but are they sharing a private joke, comparing transfer targets or just masking and underlying hatred for each other with a couple of forced smiles?
Whatever you think is happening, come up with a caption for this image and this week you could win a Puma South Africa Home Shirt!
The hosts of this year’s African Cup of Nations were knocked out on penalties by Mali in the quarter-finals of the tournament, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Puma have produced a great shirt for fans all over the world. The strip is the result of an inspiring and highly creative collaboration with a selection of artists from the Creative African Network (CAN) www.CreativeAfricanNetwork.com
Designers Hasan and Husain Essop say that: “Our design for the football kit was influenced by South Africa’s diversity of cultures and how we have grown as a Nation. The kit represents the unity within our country and at the same time reflects our strong African identity.”
