It isn't a case of, he is too young, he is too old. If they're good enough, it doesn't matter what age they are.

Oxlade has put in some very impressive shifts since signing and is U21, Wilshere is easily one of our best players and is U21. By the same standards, Cazorla is almost 30 and controls our game. Age isn't the importance, quality is.

The fact of the matter is Villa IS past his best, that doesn't mean he isn't better than some people are making out. I think he is more than capable of adding quality to a way below par Arsenal side.

The only reason I think it may be a mistake is that he is 31, only just back from a long term injury and reportedly will cost in the region of £13m+. It's a big risk, but if he was to perform anywhere near his best, we'd have done a very good piece of business. But, it is a massive risk.

You can't sit there and say all Arsenal fans want it both ways. When we've been linked with M'vila (22), Huntelaar (29) & Mbiwa (23) the fans haven't complained, they've hoped that the rumours were true. Like I said before, age isn't the key factor - it's quality. In many peoples eyes, Villa is past it.

Let's not deceive ourselves, we will not buy Villa! The only thing we can do right now is to develope Theo, if he signs, and try to develop a midfield and defence worthy of winning us trophies. In fact if you looked hard enough, you will realise that goal-scoring is not our problem, but we don't have players with the heart to win trophies in defence and midfield.

I agree,David Villa would make a perfect
replacement,for Van Persie,but he would
never come,we carn't attract good players anymore, them days are gone,i'm
afraid Arsenal are a third rate team,
with a third rate manager,it's still fresh in my mind how Bradford City put
us out of the cup,a few weeks ago,and we had are so called best out.If you
look at the current league placings,if
they have a bad run,and they quite
easily could, looking at who they are up against, they could be in the lower half of the division,i hope i'm wrong, but you never know."GET YOUR CHEQUE BOOK OUT ARSENE STOP SKAITING ON THIN ICE ".

You sir just wrote a perfect article on a subject ive been breefly covering in comment sections.Thank you for that.
I have stated that in my opinion David Villa is the perfect replacment for Robin van Persie and that he is possibly even better player hwos only problem in Barcelona is that he has to compete with Messi for his favored position.
And i think the reason he would may want to leave is for regular playing time because of the world cup is next year and even players of Villas caliber have to play regularly to warrant a starting place in spanish squad.
I think many people dont watch the players they are talking about and build their arguements on information read on internet and youtube highlights.
