Schalke forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has put a host of Premier League clubs on red alert, by revealing his desire to some day play in England, reports the Daily Mirror.

The 30-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal last January, but instead opted to sign a new deal with the Bundesliga club.

The deal is not set to expire until 2015, but is thought to include a get-out-clause for this summer, which has put a number of clubs on red alert.

Huntelaar was on target during Schalke’s win over Hamburg at the weekend, and despite recent injury problems has insisted he wants to play until the age of 40 – but perhaps not in Germany.

“Of course I think about playing in England now and again, but right now my focus is on Schalke and the second half of the season,” Huntelaar told Bild.

“I still have a year and a half on my contract and I think a decision over my future will be made half a year before that expires.

“I want to play to 40. I want to play another 10 years of football. I feel young and fit.”

The Dutch forward has played in most major leagues across Europe, with spells at Real Madrid, Ajax, and AC Milan already under his belt.
