Former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini could be set for a return to the Premier League this summer according to The Sun.

The Frenchman has been offered a new deal at AC Milan, but is seriously considering a return to England where he feels he has ‘unfinished business.’

Flamini has been at the San Siro since leaving Arsenal in 2008, at a time when he was on the way to establishing himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the division.

And although he has an offer on the table from Milan, Flamini appears to have had his head turned by the host of English clubs reportedly tracking him.

“Milan offered me a contract for two years but I need to take my time and make the right decision,” he said.

“I’ve been in Italy for five years, I’ve had a great time and learnt a lot.

“But I miss England and I want to win the Premier League.

“It has a special place in my heart. I like the pace and the physicality of English football and I like that every game is very open.”

Flamini spent four years with the Gunners, and was part of the FA Cup winning team of 2005 – incidently the last team to win silverware at the Emirates. He was also a part of the team that lost the Champions League final to Barcelona in Paris the following year.

Having won a Serie A title during his time in Italy, Flamini has revealed he is eager to join a club that will give him the opportunity to compete for more silverware.

“I want to win trophies. I am a competitor,” he added.

“I’ve had some good offers but I want to take my time and decide what direction I will take.

“What’s important is to be in a team which has a good project, good ambitions and abilities.

“I miss the Premier League but other countries are possible, too. I don’t want to close any doors.”
