Arsenal’s victory over West Ham was – despite a much-needed one – once more quite startling in the side’s lack of pace. The injury to Theo Walcott has made the Gunners a more predictable attacking threat in recent months.

Since Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has come back to fitness he has been Arsenal’s best performer, being the only player who displays the ability to take a man on and beat him for speed. But the youngster was suffering from a grueling 120 minutes against Wigan, and the Gunners looked more one-paced without him.

If Arsenal are to improve next season, they need to add to this department. Injuries are part and parcel of a season, and without Theo Walcott, Arsenal suffer.
