Arsenal could seal a January deal for Auxerre’s Paul-George Ntep, after his agent confirmed that the striker could move before the transfer window closes.

The Gunners have been tracking the 21-year-old over the course of the past few months, with Arsene Wenger known to be keen to bolster his attacking options.

With a series of injuries in their squad, the Londoners are currently short on striking options, with Olivier Giroud their only genuine centre-forward available to play.

Although he is plying his trade in the second tier of French football, Ntep is thought to be an option.

There has been no official contact made between Arsenal and Auxerre, but the youngster’s agent, Mario Knez, has revealed that a move before the end of the current transfer window is plausible:

“An agreement with Arsenal? There’s no truth to that,” he is quoted by The Express.

“Is he leaving in January? It’s certainly an option, he is having a great season and Auxerre are ready to start a negotiation.”

Ntep himself has previously admitted that a switch to Arsenal would appeal to him:

“Arsenal is a club that appeals to any player.

“This is a club that relies on young people. After that, it’s always the same question – it depends on the project.”
