Germany’s World Cup preparations have taken yet another turn for the worst as Arsenal transfer target, Julian Draxler, and his Schalke teammate, Benedikt Howedes, were involved in a car crash at the national training camp.

The German duo were involved in the crash with Formula One star Nico Rosberg and touring car driver Pascal Wehrlein, which resulted in serious injuries to two people on the closed-circuit track.

Neither Draxler nor Howedes are believed to have been injured by the incident, but it doesn’t come as welcome news as Joachim Loew puts in place his final preparations for the World Cup in Brazil.

Draxler is thought to be high up on Arsene Wenger’s list on transfer targets this summer, but the car crash appears to be a premonition with regards to that deal, as the youngster is believed to be keen on staying in the Bundesliga for a further season.
