While the mood has certainly calmed over the past few days, the calls for Arsene Wenger’s departure from Arsenal reached its peak following the 6-0 loss away to Chelsea. At that point, it looked as though Arsenal’s long-time manager could offer no more.

Wenger’s reluctance to pen a new contract does raise suspicion as to the thinking of the manager and whether he indeed will step down when his current deal comes to an end in a couple of months.

If that should happen, the fear that has engulfed many supporters should be washed away, because even if change is needed, there are many managers capable of succeeding Arsene Wenger and avoiding the mistakes carried out by other domestic rivals.
