It’s no secret that Arsene Wenger hates the January transfer window. Quiz the Arsenal gaffer on its utility and he’ll quickly tell you that it’s a month full of booby-traps, overpriced wastes of space and bargain bucket purchases that the majority of Premier League clubs don’t even bother getting involved in.

He certainly has a point – unless a major move takes place, instigating a chain reaction of panic buys, the transfer action tends to be relatively slim mid-season.

But amid a campaign in which Arsenal have by far their best chance of claiming the English crown in a decade, the Gunners gaffer will have to put the current window to good use if he’s going to maintain the North London outfit’s title charge until May-time.

With those age-old transfer hoodoo traps still alive and well however, we’ve come up with a list of the SIX Gunners targets that will inevitably fail to hit the heights at the Emirates, and therefore should be avoided by Arsene Wenger at all costs.
