The long-term future of Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has been up in the air for some time.

A strong resurgence in form this season has convinced many the France international still has a vital role to play at the Emirates as the Gunners top the Premier League table, but his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2014.

With the 30 year-old’s next deal most likely being the final major contract of his career, a lucrative move back to Ligue 1 could be on the cards, with PSG and Monaco reportedly very interested in the right-back’s services.

Therefore, it’s time for Arsene Wenger to draw up a contingency plan,  so we at Football FanCast have made a list of six candidates who could fill the defender’s void at the Emirates, just in case the Gunners gaffer is short on ideas.
