The main theme of Arsenal’s season has been their lack of options in attack, with Arsene Wenger receiving plenty of criticism for his failure to act during the summer and January transfer windows.

It’s a weakness that may very well prevent Arsenal from ending their trophy drought this season, though their continued stay in at least two cup competitions hasn’t prevented a need for sizeable investment at centre-forward.

This summer, the club will need to make further good use of the finances available to them. There is a wider market now open to them across Europe, meaning little excuse can be made for failure to properly strengthen the team.
