Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson believes that his former side have to replace Arsene Wenger before it is too late.

The Gunners languish in 10th place following Saturday’s Premier League defeat at the Emirates 0-2 to Swansea suffering to a Michu brace in the closing stages of the game.

There has been restlessness about the lack of development in the first team following the sales of a number of key members of the starting XI and failure to replace them, most notably Robin Van Persie this summer.

Robson believes that Arsenal have stuck by Wenger for too long and that it is time to except the Frenchman as the past rather than the future.

“I would have sacked him four years ago but I’m in the minority,” he told talkSPORT. “Arsenal football club need a new manager and they need it soon.”

“He doesn’t have the tactical understanding, his manner on the side of the pitch doesn’t help the team, he’s petulant and therefore his players become petulant, he doesn’t give any information from the sidelines and his teams look under prepared defensively.

“I wrote that article five years and nothing has changed my mind since. In fact my views on Arsene Wenger are even stronger now than they were then. There’s still 50% of the fans which will say what a good job he is doing, and we must trust in Arsene Wenger, but I just don’t see it.”

“Arsenal still have good players,” he added. “If somebody got hold of them and taught them how to defend, had a solid game plan and worked hard on them then I still think Arsenal can still be a very, very good side.”

Losing Wenger isn’t an option for the Arsenal Board. They wouldn’t replace him because he’s doing everything they want to help them line their pockets. They couldn’t find another manager to work under the same constraints. I agree there needs to be a change of management at Arsenal, but all the way down from the boardroom to the manager. To be fair to Wenger, though, until now he’s worked miracles with his economic balancing act. It was only a matter of time until the chickens came home to roost. That’s what we’re witnessing now.

Wenger resting 9 players so obviously has no intention of winning the CL Group making it harder to win the CL.

We can’t win the Premiership so his priority is Top 4 meaning we can qualify for the CL next year…….so why target qualifying for something you don’t try to win?

      Oh it’s the money isn’t it?…not the glory….silly me….WENGER OUT!

This mealy-mouthed idiot robson was sacked by Arsenal a little while ago, so he has an Arsenal-hating agenda. Screw him.

Robson has understood the inside story at Arsenal throughout the last few years. Those who hate him … can’t face the truth. Read what other ex Arsenal players say (winners of many international caps and far more experienced than Arsene actually out there on the pitch). They can’t all be wrong. Even the very loyal, well meaning Cesc said he had learned about tactics since joining Barca.

If you need Stewart Robson to set the agenda you are in real trouble. Spent more time skulking in the physio’s room than on the pitch. Got kicked out. Got the hump and has been spiteful ever since. A boring little man.

Steve Bould taking over as caretaker until the end of the season wouldn’t leave us any worse off than with Wenger remaining in charge – we are not going to win anything this season anyway but Bould may at least take the FA Cup more seriously than Wenger does.

That would buy time to find someone next summer. I’d like to see Michael Laudrup come in, with Bould staying on as his assistant, unless he shows enough to justify getting the manager job himself.

Wenger must not be allowed to spend the money that will be available next summer from the new sponsorship deals. That must be available to the new manager.

Thanks for the comments, I think some of you make some really valid points. Firstly , even if we are to say Wenger is not up to the job, I think the wheels are in motion now, so he should see out the season regardless, even though I expect him to achieve top 4. I think only a trophy this season can save his long term future, and even a carling cup may not be enough. For sure 2014 when his contract is up will be interesting if he lasts till then.

The law of deminishing returns is at play with Arsene Wenger. If he is fired at Arsenal no top team would take him. Management of the team must leave with Arsene. They are all bunch of crooks. They are useless and costly to the club.
