What better way to win over the fans than offer former Arsenal hero Robin Van Persie your shirt at half time?
The most likely explanation for such a bizarre act is that Andre Santos was playing so badly against Manchester United that he assumed Arsene Wenger would take him off at half time.
It’s understandable really, considering everyone from Gary Neville to Piers Morgan have been incredibly vocal about how poor a player, and especially a defender, the Brazilian left-back is.
He was bought in 2011, but after just 23 dismal performances in the Premier League, and seemingly growing chubbier by the game, Santos was sent packing this January and is now being loaned out to Gremio after former club Fenerbahce decided they didn’t want him back.
With a transfer fee of approximately £6million, the 30-year-old cost the Gunners roughly £300k per game.
