Aston Villa boss will retain job despite results
The Scotsman has been given the dreaded vote of confidence ahead of the important games against Reading and QPR, that could turn out decisive for the club’s final position in the league standings.
Villa currently lay in the bottom-three of the table with Lambert struggling to improve the club’s form since taking over from Alex McLeish.
The squad can only count five league wins this season, and disasters against Bradford and Millwall in the Capital One Cup and FA Cup respectively have only compounded their misery.
The fans’ disappointment increases with the club’s home form – they’ve lost half of the league games played at Villa Park – a run that has included a concerning rate of five losses out of the last six matches.
However, American owner Randy Lerner remains reluctant to make a change to the management structure, even though relegation would hold serious consequences for the club.
