Aston Villa take Ihab Naser on trial
The 15 year old Swedish youth international came over in September and featured for the U21 Chelsea development side in a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.
Despite managing to get on the scoresheet in an open game the youngster did not do quite enough to impress the scouts or training staff at the Cobham training academy, to take him on permanently.
Naser who plys his trade at Gunnilse IS, is thought to be an exciting young talent and Gordon Cowans and the U21 side want to give the Swede another once over.
The Swede told of his excitement of getting another opportunity to prove his worth at another English club saying:
“I’ll be there for a week; it’s really fun to get to go again.
“It is not unheard of for Chelsea to dispense of youth players for less than they are worth who then end up making the Premier League grade.”
The most notable cases of this being Fabio Borini ,who now plays for Liverpool following an £11million transfer from Roma this summer, and Scott Sinclair, who moved away to Swansea, before being snapped up by Manchester City, also in the most recent transfer window.
Villa will be hoping Naser will prove to be the latest example of this, and that they will see something the Blues have not picked up on.
It is also worth noting that Aston Villa have been very keen to develop youth potential from within in recent seasons with the most high profile success being Republic of Ireland international Ciaran Clark.
