Brazilian open to Chelsea or Tottenham move
Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian has revealed that he “dreams” of playing in the Premier League.
Initially the London duo were hopeful of securing a January deal, but his club have held firm to keep hold of their star man.
Willian is aware that Shakhtar are unwilling to let him leave, but admitted that he sees his future in one of the biggest leagues in the world:
“Every player dreams of playing in the Premier League. It’s in the past now, though. I’m calm and doing my utmost out there on the pitch.” He is quoted by talkSPORT.
“I don’t feel any pressure as I have met with the Shakhtar board and they are aware of my desire to move to a big club in Italy, Spain or England.
He went to highlight the interest of Chelsea and Tottenham as particularly attractive:
“I was quite upset about what happened at the time, because big clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham were interested in securing my services.
“Chelsea are a great club and won the Champions League. Tottenham are a big club as well, and have a good coach in Andre Villas-Boas.
With the transfer window due to close later this week it appears that a move for Willian is unlikely.
The 24-year-old reiterated his commitment to the Ukrainian team, but hinted that he is hopeful of a deal emerging before the end of the month:
“I’m still with Shakhtar for now, though. The transfer window is open for a few more days, but there are no offers it seems.
“You always keep hoping, but I’m focused on Shakhtar and want to do well in the Champions League.”
