Celtic star Beram Kayal is hopeful that the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United will reignite their pursuit of his signature.

The Israeli was a rumoured target for the Premier League giants a few years ago, and is believed to have come close to joining a big team in England.

However a move did not materialise, and Kayal has since seen his name associated with top sides less and less in recent times after a series of injury set-backs.

But, the man once rated at £7m by the Bhoys says that he is hopeful that the serious interest from Liverpool and United may come back as he plans to leave Scottish football:

“In my first season at Celtic a lot of teams came to watch me.” He is quoted by The Metro.

“Kenny Dalglish, who was manager of Livepool, and Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United had communications with me.

“With a lot of teams interested, Celtic wanted too much money. Now, because of my injuries, the price is much lower but my dream is still alive and well.

“There is a lack of technique, the football is played at a breakneck speed with power and intensity, and it doesn’t stop for a minute,

“I’m not in love with this league. If someone comes up with an attractive proposition to Celtic and me, then I’ll go.”

Kayal recently recovered from an injury suffered in Champions League action to help his side to claim Scottish football’s top prize.

The 25-year-old joined Celtic in 2010 from Maccabi Haifa.
