Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has rejected a move to West Ham United for the second consecutive summer, Mirror reports.

The Belgian is looking to play in a European competition next season and could make a switch to Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg instead.

This has been the second time that the Hammers have had a move for Lukaku rejected, as the 21-year-old is only considering clubs participating in European football.

Lukaku spent the past two seasons on loan at West Brom and then Everton, scoring 17 and 15 goals in the league respectively.

However despite his good form, the powerful attacker is still uncertain whether he will be part of boss Jose Mourinho’s plans, with the Blues set announce the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa sometime this summer.

And it is believed that Chelsea are willing to sell Lukaku, alerting several top European sides to be interested in his services.

One of them is German side Wolfsburg, with sporting director Klaus Alloff hoping to make a bid after the World Cup.

“If the player is getting cheaper, maybe this affair is picking up pace,” he said.

“But even then we won’t be the only club chasing the player’s signature. Actually we are looking at top-class strikers and we do not have any pressure. We are patiently waiting for the right moment.

“There will be some movement in all of this after the World Cup.”

Lukaku is set to make his World Cup debut against Algeria this coming Tuesday.
