Sort out Frank Lampard’s contractChelsea midfielder Frank Lampard will start at Aston Villa on Saturday, interim boss Rafael Benitez has confirmed.

The Chelsea veteran is one goal away from equalling the record of Bobby Tambling as the club’s all time top goalscorer and Benitez has confirmed Lampard will start at Villa Park as he chases his 202nd goal for the club.

John Obi Mikel is fit again following a hip problem but Eden Hazard and Victor Moses are doubts with respective calf and leg problems.

Lampard may be set to start against Villa but the 34-year-old could find himself benched for the Europa League final against Benfica on Wednesday.

Benitez insists the midfielder is not guaranteed a starting place in the final, and the same goes for fellow veteran John Terry.

Speaking to reporters, Benitez said: “I will do what I have to do to win it and if I can help Frank at the same time, I will do it.

“At centre-half the competition is really hard. Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic and David Luiz are also doing well.

“So now we have four centre-backs who have to compete with each other and I cannot say anything about Terry playing in the final. I haven’t decided yet.”
